How do we measure how many people are involved in culture? How do new technologies affect culture? How often do people go to music festivals or cinemas? How many cultures affect particular communities? The answers to all these questions can be found through participation in cultural surveys. This study was designed as a guide to organizations interested in measuring cultural participation, as well as a tool for raising awareness among legislators. This study also outlines current trends in measuring cultural participation, based on the concept and definitions of the UNESCO study ‘The 2009 UNESCO Framework for Cultural Statistics (FCS)’.
