Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanovic and UNDP Permanent Representative in Montenegro Daniela Gasparikova signed today in Cetinje an Agreement on Cooperation between the two institutions under the program ‘Creative Montenegro – Economic Valorisation and Creative Industries’.
The agreement, as stated by the Ministry of Culture, defined a number of fields of cooperation over the next two years, which will make the sector of creative industries in Montenegro fully valorised. The agreement envisages, among other things, joint work on the creation of the platform ‘We Live Culture’, which will be an integral part of the Online Art Market with the works of Montenegrin creators.
In addition, the Ministry of Culture and UNDP, through a partnership, will develop, in the space of the Podgorica complex ‘Kolektor’, production establishment for artists through the creative industries program, with the joint realization of public competitions for the creation of art installations within the project ‘Micro 020’. In addition, a number of cooperation measures will also address the area of heritage. In this regard, the mapping and preparation of a study on the valorisation of cultural property, the preparation of technical documentation for their reconstruction, the creation of applications for the purpose of valorisation of cultural heritage, promo spots and other materials were defined.
The Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanovic said that signing the agreement today is a continuation of successful cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and UNDP. He emphasized that the program ‘Creative Montenegro – Economic Valorisation and Creative Industries’, worth a total of one million euros, would like to contribute to the economic valorisation of cultural heritage and to strengthen links with tourist offer.
‘When it comes to concrete activities in the field of cultural heritage, we will immediately start mapping and developing studies on the potentials for its valorisation’, Bogdanovic said.
According to him, the area of modern technologies will be specially treated. The focus will also be on the development of applications and the application of new technologies in order to strengthen ties with tourism and to create a new, competitive product based on cultural tourism. When it comes to contemporary creativity and creative industries, the emphasis will be placed on their market context.
Gashparik said culture and creativity is an exceptional resource for every country, and they said that UNDP supports its Ministry activities and the vision of the Creative Montenegro project. As for the next two years, through the Creative Montenegro program, special attention was paid to the creative industry – ideas and infrastructure, such as establishing the first creative hubs in Podgorica, Bar, Kotor and Bijelo Polje.
