The Ministry of Culture has received € 1.3 million in funding for the project to establish a creative industry development centre at the old Kotor prison facility. The amount was determined by the IPA project ‘3C Cross-Border Exchange with the Purpose of Developing Culture and Creative Industries’, managed by the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro.
This way, the Old Kotor Prison will become a creative hub with many facilities and accommodation for artists.
‘With the restoration of the Prison Building in the Old Town of Kotor, for which almost EUR 1.3 million has been determined, the Ministry of Culture continues to realize the strategic goal of promoting and developing the creative sector and creative industries in Montenegro,’ Bogdanovic said at a ceremony in Podgorica today.
The aim of this project, as part of the Italy-Albania-Montenegro Cross-Border Cooperation Program, is to create multifunctional cultural centres that will be used for the most part for the implementation of residential programs for artists from the region, as well as to establish a regional network of cultural entrepreneurs for the purpose of developing creative industries.
The partners of the Ministry of Culture on this project are the Ministry of Economy of Montenegro, Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Albania, Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments ‘Gani Strazimiri’ from Albania, Department for Tourism, Economy, Culture and Territorial Development of the Region of Puglia, Region of Molise and the Foundation of Culture of the Region of Molise, The National Centre for Cinematography from Albania and the Gramsci Foundation from the Region of Pula.
